New Modern Bathroom light

So After 3 months of being on back order our new light for the master bathroom came in and we got rid of the “grandma pineapple” at least that is what I called it.

Credenza Update

So here is the scoop, I priced out euro-ply, $236 per sheet and I need 2 sheets. You do the math, way too much money. I came across this set of photos on Flickr. This guy took a Ikea Lack shelving unit and turned it on it’s side.Sooooo we made the trip to Ikea on Sat. Ikea was a zoo but I did find 2 of these units, one in the scratch and dent and one new, so this is what I will use for the structure of the credenza. We also picked up some other goodies, pics coming soon.

To Build, Or not to build?

As I have been looking around at modern credenzas, I noticed one thing, they are pricey! So I came across a site where a guy had built his own x818. I thought huuum, I think I could built that.

Some of the credenzas I like are $1500-$2500, this guy built his for $300, that sounds way better too me. Here are the pricey ones we likeSo I have made a mock up of what ours will look like.I have already ordered the legs. I decided to go with a little retro feel and use 8″ stainless steel hairpin legs. I ordered them from www.ianmaclean.comI am still sourcing the wood, 1″ plywood is expensive so I am finding the best deal.

Can’t wait for Spring

So I don’t really have any more pictures of the house to post just yet. We did sell the pellet stove, so now we are looking at TV’s and credenzas. But I have really been thinking about the yard. Two weeks ago I started cutting down some of the old growth in the back yard. I don’t think anything has been done back there for quite a few years. The front yard needs some work as well. I plan on doing a very geometric landscape in the front. I want to create some square raised planters at different levels and plant different plants or trees in them. I have included some pictures that may give you an idea as to what I am thinking.

Entry and chandelier

Now that you have seen the front of the house, Let’s check out the inside. Wow I sound like a lame TV show host or something. The entry was done in a slate gray/green tile which we were not so hot on at first, but has really grown on us. There was a perfect place for a small side table. We went to the c02 going out of business sale not really expecting to find anything but there it was. Actually Rebecca spotted it and called. Note: the green carpet on the stairs will be changed. As you can see it is sort of a split entry, if you go upstairs you enter the master bedroom loft, downstairs will take you to the rest of the house.

Standing at the stairs to go up or down, if you look straight up you will see our new chandelier. It was really cool to find this, yes I got it on EBay. The glass is all hand blown, It was a little scary hanging it. The chandelier is actually a replica of this one. No I did not pay anywhere close to that. Most of us are on a budget so you have to choose where to go HIGH or LOW on your decor. We where very pleased on how this turned out. Oh and here is a pic of the old light, not really into the stain glass look.
