Most people may think this home/workplace is a little stark and cold, but I really like the museum feel. Of course I would have to throw a little color around. But wow, I could wake up and have breakfast in this house every day. More info, pics, and link after the jump.

This 1,000 square-foot weekend cabin, basically a steel box on stilts, can be completely shuttered when the owner is away. Situated near a river in a floodplain, the 20’ x 20’ square footprint rises three stories and is topped by the living room/kitchen. Large, 10’ x 18’ steel shutters can be closed simultaneously using a hand crank.

What a brilliant idea. We currently have Corian countertops in our kitchen and they are practically bomb proof which is good with two young children. These trays and other accessories from FTF Design Studio are so clean and beautiful, at first glance I would have never guessed Corian. I could have one of these in each room of the house. I am particularly fond of the trays with the bamboo inserts. More pics and link after the jump.
