Modern Home - The Mt. Baker Residence - PB Elemental

Another beautiful project by PB Elemental. More after the jump.

The Mt. Baker Residence is perched on a steep slope high above street level. Massive façade windows and a 400 s.f. roof top deck capture sweeping views of the Rainier Valley to Downtown Seattle. Column-like windows on side elevations of the home provide vertically-strong views, placed to respect the privacy of the adjacent neighbors. The 2,470 s.f. home includes four bedrooms, two and a half baths, and a large open living floor. On the top level, 12’ tall ceilings and walls of glass allow large amounts of natural light to create one grand space for kitchen, dining, and living.

Additionally, the home includes a separate, one bedroom apartment unit (635 s.f.) on the lower level, complete with a wrap-around patio. The structure was conceived as the juxtaposition of three pure volumes, each containing a unique programmatic element. Each element is emphasized by material cladding; cedar panel, cement board, concrete, and marine plywood

Modern Interior - Cork cellar + kitchen - Albano Daminato

Albano Daminato is still doing great work. Cork cellar + kitchen is one of his newer projects. Love how the darks play so well with the lights of the wood.

Primary materials include honey and cork hued plywood set against ink-black stained plywood panels- these are juxtaposed against a rubberized black floor and a bar clad in matt black granite. The dark form of the bar, with its blackened lowered ceiling, sits below a towering white-cube ceiling space. Pivotal to the space is the main structural building column which has been concealed in a plywood clad sculptural form integrating wine bottle display and storage.

Modern Café - SWICH by The Apartment

Love the interior design of SWICH. The simplicity of it works so well. The Apartment has some other great projects as well. More after the jump.

The basis are the amazing sandwiches (renamed swiches) that guided our thoughts to bring an old-fashioned neighborhood café quality to a wide audience; with a hint of our trademark romantic minimalism of course. the concept from the very beginning was that the very finest ingredients would find themselves sandwiched and pressed in delightful concoctions prepared by the owner himself. so, naming was the first task at hand and after having gone down the wrong road with munch and stacked among countless others, the answer magically appeared: just take the “and” away from sandwich, there’s just no use for it… and there we were, left with simply swich.
