Modern Art - Evan Hecox
So I will assume that most of us have heard of Evan Hecox. I am particularly fond of his style, pen and ink or line drawing with a type of color fill. I just received my print “Ghosts of Winter” it looks amazing and the colors match what we are doing in our master bedroom. His limited edition prints are very well crafted and they come in common sizes so that you don’t have to spend a fortune framing them. More after the jump.
Modern Interiors - Kate Hume
WOW, WOW and some freaking WOW. I just came across the portfolio of Kate Hume and I so love her style. A townhouse in Amsterdam is got to be one of my favorites, it’s a little “dark” with the ravens and all but I would live there in a heart beat. More after the jump.
Set in a leafy park in the centre of the city, the palette of vibrant greens and yellows which reflect the summer foliage is off set with stark black and white. The traditional townhouse was opened up into one room per floor, bringing light and space to the narrow building. Frans van der Heyden, for Birdman, designed the custom cabinetry and most of the furniture. Acid yellow satin curtains dress the bedroom. The thistle wallpaper is a nod to the owners Scottish heritage.
Modern Interiors - William Page Wilson
Very nice modern interiors by William Page Wilson. These rooms fit my likes of modern décor, not to stark and not crammed with nick knacks. There are just enough objects and art adding points of interest. More after the jump.
After spending 28 years as a rice and soybean farmer in eastern Arkansas, Wilson’s strong interest in pragmatic solutions and appreciation of modern design led to the creation of an urbanism, environmentally-friendly home design trend that connects the old with the new.
Modern House - RB Arkitektur
Very cool modern house by Rahel Belatchew Lerdell. Of course I love the black floors and white walls. Some of the spaces seem a little more sparse than I like, but that is just me. Check out the stair railing, very cool and minimal. More after the jump. Photos: James Silverman
The house is located at high altitude over the level of the street. The rectangular, narrow, generates the contrast which is itself the formal outdoor solution. Inside, the challenges of Rahel were others: making your own home, a small but powerful, sophisticated but economically. “I wanted to show that expression of a modern house does not have to cost a fortune.”
Modern House - Crockett Residence - Pb Elemental Architecture
Pb Elemental Architecture is one of my favorite Architecture firms, maybe it’s because they are in my home state but mostly their projects are just killer. Most of you have probably seen the Crockett Residence. It is one of my favorites due to it being the size and type of home I would need. Kudos to the interior designers/owners they did a great job on the inside. More after the jump.
The main challenge was to accommodate the clients’ growing family on a 2,000 square foot site and within a tight budget. The program includes four bedrooms, two baths, an open kitchen, dining, and living arrangement, an entry corridor, a utilities area, a large storage room, and an accessory dwelling unit (adu) with a full kitchen, bath, laundry, and closet space. This is all accomplished in a building footprint of 790 square feet and at a cost of $167/sf.
