These have too be my new favorite interior images. This home is filled with an amazing collection of mid century furniture. If you were out for an afternoon stroll and passed by this house you would have no clue as to what lurked inside. The site is in Dutch but from what I gather, The Britons are the collectors here. Photos by Jan Verlinde. More after the jump.
An old house situated on a dike full of vintage design presents an unusual, refreshing confrontation. The owners have Belgian and British roots, explaining their rich and eclectic collecting habit. Britons are born art collectors. They handle the past and the present differently, because they do not distinguish as clearly between the now and then. This interior shows that. The home is quite rural but the interior is contemporary, not an obvious combination. In the old days such rural abodes would be packed with rustic antiques. Furnishings comprising of vintage design are therefore quite unusual. And yet not everything on display is brand new. Some furniture is 50 years old. The collection simultaneously tells the story of the residents.
