Yesterday I received a email form Andy Martin Architects letting me know about this killer home designed, built and lived in by Andy himself. I love when older structures are re-energized with a modern aesthetic. A very impressive element is the way they were able to bring light in throughout the 4 levels.
Mews 03 is a single residence set in fashionable Notting Hill Gate. Andy wanted this existing 2 levels modest mews house to be redeveloped into a 4 levels family home, and to be a private cocoon but open to the elements. An important aspect of this building is the way AMA have managed to capture the available light creatively, using glazed and wooden screens, and even natural vegetation screens giving all the spaces a unique atmosphere throughout the day and night.

Betty: Oct 19 11 at 1:04 amgreat transformation of what I imagine the old place must have been. I agree with your view about light throughout but did you mean in general (my perspective) or did he use some other technique that I am missing? Would also love to see how the upstairs was shaped as it seems to have an outdoor area that I don’t see a photo of. Other stuff is amazing and the eclectic objects are also a trip.

Thanks!
