APARTAMENTO 61 GALLERY IS A BRAZILIAN-BASED GALLERY THAT WORKS WITH BRAZILIAN AND INTERNATIONAL DESIGN FROM LEADING 20TH CENTURY DESIGNERS, INCLUDING LINA BO BARDI, JOAQUIM TENREIRO, SERGIO RODRIGUES, JORGE ZALSZUPIN, JEAN GILLON, ZANINE CALDAS, MARTIN ESILER AND GIUSEPPE SCAPINELLI. If you have visited Plastolux much you know that I love a good gallery with documented projects. Even better is the fact that these design enthusiasts deal in Brazilian design, for me that means Rosewood! Make sure to bookmark their site so you can check their inventory.
Apartamento 61 was founded by a young couple of design-lovers Vivian Lobato, journalist, and André Visockis, graphic designer, who started the business when they were first acquiring pieces for their own house, and found in MCM Brazilian design a great way to decorate and furnish interiors. Once they noticed that they were buying more than they needed, opening the gallery was just a matter of time.
I can relate to the story of how the gallery was started as I think most of us buy more than we can “carry”. To much stuff equals, need to sell.
