CT09 Enoki Side Table
I am really liking the idea of creating small clusters with the diversity of the Enoki Side Table designed by Philipp Mainzer. I think the color combinations are pretty killer, you could go nuts with color or keep it black and white.
Enoki CT09 is available in two different diameters and heights. The 30 mm thick marble slab can be combined with a harmonizing or contrasting colored steel frame, the result is subtle or unusual combinations.
Fishers Island House by Thomas Phifer and Partners
Talk about a “glass house” the Fishers Island House by Thomas Phifer and Partners is so scenic, even breath taking. We don’t get to see too much of the interior but from what we do see, it is just as stunning as the exterior. When one lives in a house with glass walls you had better make sure that what you are looking at is worth the glass. The landscaping is so well done and is almost as detailed as the home itself. WOW!

Aiken Lounge chair by James
I am really liking the design and material choices of the Aiken Lounge chair by James. I love the sculptural lines the frame of the chair create, you can almost follow the “lounging” lines as they tilt you back. It also comes in a double seat option. I don’t know that I could curl up in this thing but I am sure I could do dome lounging.
Crosslight by DARK
The Crosslight designed by Jan Melis & Ben Oostrum is one of my favorite lighting fixtures. The first time I saw one was in a picture of a bathroom and there was just one singular light and I have had to have one ever since. I have literally been haunting eBay for one of these for a long time, years and when they do but very rarely show up on eBay it feels like everyone wants one too. This time I got lucky, I snagged one for pretty cheap. I don’t really have a place for it to hang so I may just leave it laying around like in pics 1,2,3. I think it looks great as a sculpture, it has a great pop art feel. The fact that it glows is a plus. Most of the following images are form DARK, the manufacturer unless otherwise noted.

My Den
Soot Desk by Note Design Studio of Stockholm.
What a stunning piece of design/art the Soot desk is! The Pine, the blackened darkness mixed with the brass hardware is pure killer. Not to mention the fishbone pattern inside and out.
Karolina Stenfelt gave Kristoffer Fagerström at Note free hands to design her journeyman project at Carl Malmsten School of Furniture. Kristoffer designed an architects “black box” that combined the old analogue approach of built-in rulers, hidden magnets and sketchpaper rolls with new functions like USB hubs and power outlets. Gleaming brass fittings referring to the fire used for burning the veneer meet the sooted surface, creating a powerful contrast. The exterior is covered with the experimental burned veneer in a fishbone pattern, and when you open the desk the inside is covered with the finest selection of golden pine in the same pattern.
D-Hotel wins international price - Govaert & Vanhoutte Architects
I have posted about the amazing architectural work of Govaert & Vanhoutte in the past but most recently they sent me an email announcing that their D-Hotel won international price. If you read plastolux at all you know that I am a big fan of juxtaposition and the D-Hotel is just that. Not only are the new additions striking but the interiors are all diverse in a modern flavor.
A formation of three concrete volumes gather around a U-shaped farm building and a protected renovated windmill. The old and new entities have no direct contact above the surface, though underground there is a tunnel underneath the old farm, forming the base of the concept. Starting from the hotel reception, the tunnel disappears under the inner square through a contemporary glass volume.
