Petra and Tegola lamps by Studio Klass
The modern Petra and Tegola lamps were recently unveiled during Milan design week. The lamps are designed to be produced entirely in limestone, both composed in two parts to simplify the manufacturing process. I love the simple shapes the interlock creating beautiful subtle light giving sculptures.
Lake House by Kohn Shnier Architects
The Lake House by Kohn Shhier Architects is a stunning piece of modern architecture. I have and always will be a sucker for black and white and you mix that with a wall of glass, ya pretty much perfection. A design element that caught my eye was the fireplace, the fireplace itself isn’t huge but I love how the marble wraps around the wall adding texture and giving scale. The overhanging roof is a really nice architectural element that ads a beautiful visual plane.

Rune Bruun Johansen
Rune Bruun Johansen design’s are directly influenced by Danish design. I am mostly drawn to his storage pieces, I have never really been a fan of cherry wood but there are a couple of massive designs that are really outstanding. The use of brass in his pieces was nice to see, is brass making a come back in Mid Century and Danish? Or is it already back?

Adrian Pearsall Residence for sale
This may be old news but it’s new to me, you can have Adrian Pearsall’s 9,792 sq. ft. home. There are some really cool design elements in this home, the one that stood out to me was the cantilevered fireplace hearth, very reminiscent of his furniture design. All of the cut outs in the ceiling really let a lot of light travel through out this open floor plan.
In 1962, at the height of mid-century furniture designer Adrian Pearsall’s career, Adrian created an Atomic Age masterpiece. He realized a dream by designing his family’s new home, nestled in the mountains north of the Lehigh Valley. Educated as an architect, he incorporated every available modern convenience into a 10,000-square-foot ranch.

A modern rocking chair for the nursery
If you have been following Plastolux you may or may not know that we are expecting number three in late June. We had to sort of start over on all of the baby stuff. I have been working on getting the nursery ready. One key piece for me was going to be the rocking chair. It had to be comfortable, my style, mid century modern or contemporary and most of all super affordable. I meet all sorts of people through my facebook page and one such person was Amy from Walla Walla Washington, ya it’s fun to say. Amy has a killer store “DeBouche Modern” full of great mid century modern furniture. I asked her through facebook if she had a rocking chair that wasn’t like my Grandma’s……………..Make sure to check out the after photos

Maison Glissade by AKB - Atelier Kastelic Buffey
What a fantastic setting for such a killer house. Maison Glissade by AKB is set on a narrow lot in a private ski club development in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada, a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional chalet. I love the black and wood facade against the snow, the home really stands out. The interiors are just as striking as the exterior, super clean and minimal with a open floor plan to make the narrow space feel larger.
