I am going to deviate from our regular program for a little self promotion. Some of you may remember the Cube Side Table that Matt Easvold and I put together. The next step was to make several designs from this one that would involve other pieces but we won’t get into those just yet. With the come back of brass (for some people) we really wanted to make these bases in solid brass and marry them with a nicely figure walnut. You have to admit the two look amazing together. The Brass and Walnut Cube Side Table is available through my store.

If you are not into brass, just pretend for a moment that you are, what do you think?
We would love to have your opinion.

After the bases were made we really got excited about these coming together.

Great job Tyler!! You and Eastvold are a great table-making team! The brass legs were definitely the way to go in giving it a nice MCM feel.

I would definitely buy this if I wasn’t a poor post-college industrial design student. So hard knowing what good design is and not having the money to buy it…or the tools to make it. A very nice upgrade to the side table.

  • Tyler

    Thanks Chris and Denise!

Our store has recently added the Eastvold line, and the Cube Side Table is one of my favorite pieces. I really like your brass version and think it is a great alternative to the powder coated steel. It has more of a mid-century feel and looks like a far more expensive piece, but the price isn’t that much more than the steel version. I think this will be a winner.

    gorgeous. love the brass

Great design and work! I’d get one (two really)—would love to see a console/long version of this for an entry!

Thanks Christa and D.Pasco, Christa we have a couple more pieces that are in development that are based off of this design.

Loving the clean lines and the fact that it has an open area to display the pretty stuff as well as a drawer to hold visually unappealing items.

There is nothing I don’t love from a visual stand-point.

My only suggestion would be to perhaps take advantage of the area where the drawer and the open area meet to include a small tray (not sure what the proper technical design term is) that could slide out to offer a bit more surface space if needed…and then I’d be tucked in when not in use. I know kitchens use this design/practical element a lot…best of luck with this journey!

I think it is beautiful. Not only is it practical but also very artistic. MCM inspired for sure ala Milo Baughman but artistic in a Donald Judd kind of way. Beautiful craftsmanship. I just saw it on Dwell! congratulations!

  • Tyler

Thanks Javier, I haven’t seen it in Dwell yet but I am pretty excited.

Beautiful and functional, perfect combination. I’m loving brass elements in modern interiors, your design is spot on.
