plywood+nuts+bolts+OSB and you may get a little TILTED
I am really digging the use of simple and available materials that TILT is using in their projects. I can’t help but on some level think they are inspiring all of us to DIY, how to, or even make your own furniture using some of the simplest of materials. In no way am I taking away from their work, I think it is killer. I really like the industrial modern vibe that the OSB and nuts and bolts provide. More inspiration after the jump.
Retro Renewal - Atomic Indy
What would you do if you happened upon a yard full of discarded freebies? Blog cohort Baz over at Atomic Indy just sent me this really cool lighting DIY. While on his usual side street cruzing he came upon this yard full of freebies and snagged this cool retro Sony TV. Make the jump to see what became of this discarded gem.
A tale of two Eames
It seems that everyone and their dog is trying is get their hands on vintage Eames, Herman Miller, and Knoll just to name a few. So with my slim budget I have to find the busted, stained and decrepit pieces in hopes to rejuvenate them. This pair of Eames DCM chairs were purchased at different times so they are not a matching pair and they have both had some poorly done back surgery. Click “READ MORE” to see step by step on how I brought these chairs back to life.

The one on the right already had the clear coat sanded off. The clear coat on the left one was already flaking off.

The shock mounts on both chairs were hard and cracked.
DIY mini Japanese maple garden
In one of my posts last week I had mentioned that we had sold our home. One of my favorite features of this house is the red maple on the side of our house, it is so killer. Underneath this maple is a blanket of small maple trees that I haven’t the heart to rip up. I decided I needed to take a little of this house with me when we move out. See what I did with these small trees after the jump.
Thrifting with George
One of my new years resolutions was to do a little more thrifting. I found a little old house turned antique shop, knowing full well it was not my flavor I took my chances. As I rounded a corner there he was George Washington with his little smirk. I thought it was a pretty cool picture but then moved on right out the front door. The next two days I couldn’t get this thing out of my mind. I went back hoping it was too expensive and I could just be done. George came home with me that day for $25. I quickly broke out the acrylic paints and went to town. I wanted to mess with the print itself but did a little hunting and found that it is from the 60’s and are pretty hard to find in this large size. I am sure it’s not worth much but I decided to leave it as is. Make the jump to see what happened to George.
