The Method Behind: Derrick Hickman
I instantly took a liking to the work of Artist Derrick Hickman, particularly his Text Art . I have featured his work in the past but I thought it would be great to have Derrick answer some questions about himself and his work. Derrick also offers custom paintings done in his word portrait syle, the process is pretty cool, you can read it here.

Q: Who is?
My name is Derrick Hickman and I an artist based in Ohio. My paintings tend to revolve around the concept of memory, its constant state of evolution and how we grapple to define and make static such a nebulous concept. Text is often a vehicle used in my works, sometimes as the subject itself or as a supporting element. Always distorted or fragmented, it is meant to lead viewers as well as misguide or misdirect.

The Artwork of Markus Haub
This might just be one for the guys. I love the painting style of Markus Haub. His paintings are a collage of sorts, he takes the image himself then uses a mix of painting and manual techniques. I would love one of these paintings hanging in my house. Markus will even do a custom painting of your car.

Sculptor Alma Allen encore
It has been a while since I had last featured Sculptor Alma Allen, yesterday I received an email highlighting some recent work by Alma. Every time I look at his work I am in amazement of his talent. It seems to me that a lot of care and detail goes into his pieces. I really love the choices of materials and in some cases these different materials are joined in a harmonious way. Make sure to visit his site to see the rest of his work.

Matthias Schaller
Could you imagine a series of these moon men in your home somewhere? Moon men are not the only thing photographer Matthias Schaller is amazing at capturing. He has a great series of Cardinals’ desks of the Roman Curia in the Vatican. I really like the feeling of these empty rooms, the viewer becomes the occupant. I really couldn’t find a bio, so go check out his other works.

The creative mind of Robert Proch
Yes I know, two Art posts in one week but when it is this good, I just had to share. I was messing around on Behance and came across the work of Poland based Artist Robert Proch. Whoa….was the first thought that entered my mind, what an amazing original stylistic approach. His work has so much movement creating a dynamic landscape for your eyes to dance around in. What a stellar use of color, just wow. OK end of rant.

Thibault Chauvet - Visual Artist
I know the whole “fractal art” thing has been quite the rage lately and I have to admit that I quite like the fractal treatment across all sorts of mediums. When I came across the work of Thibault Chauvet, it was simplified and not so “frantic”. I really like his use and choice of colors. The white walls in the gallery shot (second pic) really make the artwork stand out.
