Soot Desk by Note Design Studio of Stockholm.

What a stunning piece of design/art the Soot desk is! The Pine, the blackened darkness mixed with the brass hardware is pure killer. Not to mention the fishbone pattern inside and out.

Karolina Stenfelt gave Kristoffer Fagerström at Note free hands to design her journeyman project at Carl Malmsten School of Furniture. Kristoffer designed an architects “black box” that combined the old analogue approach of built-in rulers, hidden magnets and sketchpaper rolls with new functions like USB hubs and power outlets. Gleaming brass fittings referring to the fire used for burning the veneer meet the sooted surface, creating a powerful contrast. The exterior is covered with the experimental burned veneer in a fishbone pattern, and when you open the desk the inside is covered with the finest selection of golden pine in the same pattern.

Module Wodule by Niki Mihaylov

Module Wodule by Niki Mihaylov is a versatile piece of furniture that can be used as a bench, partition or even a shelving unit. I am sure there are other uses for this design as well. I like this idea because some times I tire of the furniture in my home and this would at least let you re-purpose and change it’s use a feel.

The chosen form allows you to make a large number of combinations for the assembly. Two versions of the module which are of one and the same outline but with different type of construction are chosen. The first one is made of solid material by joining several pieces. The second one is made by ribbing the longitudinal side of the module - the module is made of 8 plates cut by CNC or a laser which are linked together by metal.

Acorn Chest of Drawers by Bark

I am really digging on the Acorn Chest of drawers by Bark. There are two design elements that really stand out to me, the drawer handles are a fantastic detail and mix that with an overall tapered design and you have one unique modern dresser.

Loungescape by Ditte Hammerstrom

I am really liking the Loungescape by Ditte Hammerstrom. I do think you would have to have a pretty good sized space to have at least three of these in a grouping, you know the saying “if you do it once, do it three times”. I am also digging the green color ways.

Sofa in seven parts. Can be placed in different ways according to the room and tied together. Nominated for Bo Bedre Design Prize 2005.

RSM I (Rattan Splice Mark I), HARRY PARR-YOUNG

I am usually not a big fan of rattan furniture but the RSM I (Rattan Splice Mark I) stool form Harry Parr-Young may have just changed my mind. I really like the simplicity of the shape with the complexity of the weave. These would fit right in with any modern or mid century modern decor.

RSM I (Rattan Splice Mark I), addresses the conventional style of rattan furniture, re-creating the perceived association with its exotic and outdoor context, with the final outcome of creating a range of rattan furniture, that sits logically in the contemporary furniture market and domestic setting.
