I am totally digging on this custom table by Gore Design Co. The mix of materials, steel, wood and concrete make for a really warm feeling modern industrial piece. How perfect does it go with the Eames DCM chairs? Let me answer that for you…..PERFECT!
What ties this all together is the base, an engineering marvel and a study in minimalism. I was adamant that both surfaces be unified by a singular support structure with four legs. Christian and I welded this piece-by-piece, and had to make design revisions on the fly to stiffen certain sections. The end product is a wabi-sabi modern piece with a nod to mid-century modern icons.

The idea that one can reconfigure the function of a piece of furniture in quite intriguing. For me I think I woul appreciate the pieces of furniture in my house more if I had more interaction with them. I like the idea of creating different planes and pockets for things to rest on and in, pretty killer idea.

Adore Modern
I get all giddy when I come across a site like Germany based Adore Modern, a mid century furniture, art and lighting dealer. Yes, there a plenty of mid century dealers around the world but what got my attention was their minimal approach to the design and layout of their online presence. I love their photography, simple and minimal, let’s the piece stand alone. Well Done Adore Modern! Go visit their site it’s like being a kid in a candy store. P.S. I need a pair of those Lounge Chairs by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno, Italy (pic #4).
Pod chair by Benjamin Hubert for De Vorm
The Pod by Benjamin Hubert for De Vorm has quite a unique shape and style. The shape lends itself to being a privacy chair for breakout areas in offices or residential projects. Make sure to check out the video, the design processes and materials used are pretty fascinating. I think a pair of theses would look pretty sweet in my house.
Repurposed design at Castor
I am totally digging on the design ideas at Castor. Spherical shades salvaged from a defunct lighting factory, coffee table made from 1-3/8 thick marble slabs reclaimed from building, hand carved from a single piece of limestone and, well I think you get the idea. The modern lighting is stunning with exactness and industrial fused together. I love the Credenza carved from a single slab of limestone with a carved door, what a killer piece.
