Modern PreFab - Studio 804

Studio 804 at the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Urban Planning has an impressive book full of very nice PreFabs. The Modular 4 project has to be my favorite. Most PreFabs have that “PreFab” look, Modular 4 does not have that look, it looks like a custom home. ONE PLEASE! More after the jump.

Building on the success of Studio 804’s previous prefab projects, Modular 4 became the most ambitious project to date. Consisting of seven modules, the 1500 square foot home is located mere blocks away from the KU medical center, providing tremendous exposure to our work. Featuring a remarkably flexible floor plan anchored by a core of service space that defines the interior, the seven modules are offset in the middle to separate public and private, creating a bold four-foot cantilever on either side of the house.

Mid Century Modern Remodel Via Flickr

Great remodel on Flickr. They ended up with a very beautiful home. They have tons of photos of the whole processes. More after the jump.

Allied contruction built this elevation in Village Grove. Only 19 of the 1002 homes in the tracts of Village Grove were built in this elevation. This particular elevation sold for $17,500 new, when comparable traditional ranch styles were selling for $15,500. These homes have been compared to homes designed by Eichler,Ralph Haver and Cliff May. The architect was Charles Shreiber. These homes are truly unique.

Modern Architecture - Studio Momentum

Nice modern homes by Studio Momentum. I really like the polycarbonate walls of the Algeria project. More after the jump.

Light filled, polycarbonate enclosed stairwells mark a flowing path through this small, two-unit condominium. Living spaces open onto garages extending the useable area during entertaining. Flexible bedroom spaces on the second floor look onto private courtyards, and the surrounding tree canopy.

Modern Home - Architect David Salmela

From the StarTribune comes a very cool home. More pics and links after the jump.

A pair of silvery cubes floating atop a base of black concrete might sound out of place in the stately, leafy enclave of Deephaven.

But architect David Salmela and homeowner/builder Kevin Streeter think their collaboration couldn’t be a more natural fit for its woodsy setting.

“Even though it’s bold, it doesn’t shout at you; it nestles in the trees,” Salmela said. “It’s not a barking dog. It’s a resting, very gentle animal.”
