First, that’s an absolutely beautiful and old maple. Nice picture. I did want to say, however, that if you’re potting those maples in regular soil they are sure to die — the soil will suffocate the roots. Any tree being planted in a pot needs a medium that drains very well as roots need oxygen just as much as they need water. The rocks provide drainage at the bottom, but the roots surrounded by soil will rot. Good luck! =)

Nice work! We think trees are wonderful reminders of the past. Bring as many of those little guys with you as you can and start a forest in your new backyard.
