Some of you may remember that a few months back we got a new sectional which in some ways threw off a couple of things, one of them being our rug made from Flor carpet tiles. It seems like we have always had Flor in some part of our house, as a result we have a stockpile of different styles laying around. In the before picture (first pic) you can see that we used a gray wool mixed with a few smaller accents of yellow. We decided to get rid of the yellow and go with an orange. We had some longer shaggy gray wool tiles that we decided to mix with the shorter. I messed around with a few different designs, Make sure to read the rest to see what we did.

We decided to go with this design. For the orange tiles we decided to go with “House Pet” Flor describes it as “The texture is whiskery, like a wire-haired terrier; or think faux mohair sweater”, we thought it would look good with our other wool tiles. It was pretty straight forward, I just had to cut a few of the tiles in half diagonal.

As you can see we had a little Bob Ross moment with this happy little mistake, I thought I had more gray tiles than I did and the orange stripe came out behind the couch. Obviously that table really doesn’t work there so that will be the next thing I work on.

Yes! Love this set up. Do the Flor tiles get gummed up with sock fuzz or do they vacuum up real easy?

Also, how do you like your black flooring? We’re thinking about doing a black floor in our place… except maybe in recycled tire rubber flooring (like a commercial gym floor). Know anyone that’s used it in their place?

Kevin, any of the wool will sheds for a bit but it vacuumes up really easy. Black floors Show everything, but I still like the way they look.

try moving the table to the left, hiding the seam in the sectional and placing the wonderful wood cylinders to the right of the table but not on the rug. Let the orange part of the rug sit with nothing on it. it is great!!!! wonderful room!

I know you have a fetish on gray ((black, white and wood too)) but it doesn’t have to be this way. Sofa is already gray. And they’re all of the same tone and texture :)

Nice work. How are you keeping the tiles held together so they don’t shift around?

Peter, I already had the gray tiles before we got the sectional, the orange ones were the new addition. I know, there is a lot of gray.

shanley, Flor provides “Dots” one sided sticky pads that hold the tiles together.

love the gray on gray…the textures make up for the monochromatic color scheme…the pops of color are great and are more than enough…looks great
