Yes, it is true I am obsessed with Walnut. I love everything about it from the rich contrasting browns to the glowing golds. So that is why I went into a head spin when I saw the Stitched Coffee Table from uhuru. I love the seafoam green against the grain of the walnut. The contrast of the steel and the natural edge are cool as well. Uhuru has some other great pieces too, see more after the jump.
Uhuru is a small design + build furniture company dedicated to sustainability and creating timeless designs. Uhuru builds each piece by hand, in their Red Hook Brooklyn studio. We strongly agree with the shaker assertion that “beauty rests on utility” We strive to make furniture and products that are beautiful in their simplicity with an acute awareness of materials, and craft. Most of the things we make use materials that have been reclaimed, recycled, repurposed, reused or otherwise rejected from their original function.

Jamie: Oct 13 09 at 3:07 pmMe too, Tyler! I have always had a serious thing for walnut. I have not yet had the money to purchase any real walnut yet, but some day I will have one of those burly walnut slab dining tables paired with some super modern dining chairs. (sigh)
Tyler: Oct 13 09 at 3:18 pmJamie, could you imagine one of those slap dining tables with the aluminum emeco chairs all lined up?
