This mid century addition by Nest Architects take place in a small 1963 MCM house. The client in the this project did not want Nest to touch the original house but simply add a children’s “wing” (3 bedrooms, bathroom, laundry and rumpus). The house has some serious character. The flavor here leans a little into the kitchen retro flavor which I am not a huge fan of but for this house I will make an exception. I like the square grid screen on the back side of the house which feels like California mid century. Who wouldn’t want to break bread with Colonel Sanders.
