This weekend I am off to Columbus Indiana for a historic tour of some of the countries greatest mid century structures. There is a massive amount of excitement as we will be treated to a private showing of the famed Miller house. The Miller House was designed by Eero Saarinen, with interiors by Alexander Girard, and landscape design by Daniel Urban K. We will be staying at the very cool Hotel Indigo. Here is just a small taste of what is too come. More after the jump

[...] This last weekend I spent an incredible 3 days in the modern mecca which is know as Columbus Indiana. This experience has brought me closer to these incredible architects, designers and landscape architects. I have always had a passion for modernism, architecture, furniture and the design of this era. Standing in the structures, eating in the same cafes and walking the grounds of these historic places have given me an even deeper connection. In the next few weeks I will be posting about this once in a life time journey. I know this all sounds deep but don’t worry there is some plane old KILLER design coming down the pipe. Today we are going to take a look at the Irwin Union Bank built in 1954. Eero Saarinen designed the bank building with its glazed hall to be set off against the blank background of its three-story brick annex. Two steel and glass vestibule connectors lead from the north side of this structure to the annex. It was designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service in 2001 for its architecture. Make the jump to see more images. Sad to say that I took all of my images with my HD pocket cam = not so good. [...]
