This mid century modern in Berkeley Hills has gone through an extensive renovation. The house was originally designed by Ratcliff, Slama & Catwalader for Robert Scalapino, a UC Berkeley emeritus professor of Political Science. In 2012 the new owners hired YAMAMAR to bring their vision to light. The interiors are a bit to Jonathan Adler for me (not that there is anything wrong with that) but the house has some stunning features. The cast concrete fireplace is an amazing sculptural form that demands attention and will ignite a conversation. I would like to see more of the exterior and architecture of the house.
