Cheap Modern DeskI didn’t until last week. I was on my usual Friday thrifting rounds and spied this amazing smaller square coffee table with an incredible walnut grain. I won’t say how much I paid but it was a goooood deal. While I was there I saw another longer coffee table but really did not pay it much attention due to the fact it had a smoked glass top which hid it’s beauty. When I got the smaller table home and cleaned up I noticed the logo and did a little research on Brown-Saltman. While thumbing through google images I came across an image of the table I passed up, yes it too was a Brown-Saltman. I worried all weekend if this other table was still there, Monday they were closed. On Tuesday I sped over and sure enough it was still there and the same price as the other one. What we think set Brown-Saltman’s furniture pieces a part was the details. Many companies at the time were producing similarly-designed furniture, but there’s something about the details to Brown-Saltman’s pieces that seem so well thought out. Small details like legs, knobs and edges were given a ton of attention, as well as places on a piece you don’t see, like the insides of drawers and wood joints. Incorporating lots of materials to create their pieces, it does seem like wood played a huge part in the look of Brown-Saltman. READ THE REST HERE

Went to pick up a craigslist purchase, it was sitting on this bench. The owners wanted to get rid of it.

Tyler: Aug 01 10 at 11:35 pmJimbo, I really don’t know about that one. I love the one I found. If you are going to CL it I would probably at least do $300. I have done a little research on that style and have only found one other piece like it and it was a credenza in the same style.
