This renovation and addition by Terry Boling is very well done. The end result is a home any modern fan would love. There are a few uses of ordinary elements that make this house truly stand out. Take a closer look at the “wood” wall, strips of birch plywood. The fireplace surround looks to be some type of fiber board. This is great inspiration. Who knew common materials could create such stunning surfaces and textures. Link and pics after the jump.

The sensual qualities of simple materials such as plywood were explored through a series of investigations focused on fabrication and re-assembly. ¾”Baltic birch plywood was cut into 1″wide strips and re-assembled by gluing and nailing as a stacked wall surrounding the bath area
