I was slumming around the Design Addict forums and someone posted this amazing property. Looks like we are a little late though, it is posted “in escrow”. The price seemed really reasonable as I live in Glendale for a few years and just a dumpy small fixer upper was around 400k. It doesn’t look like much will even have to be done to the place. Congrats to the new owners! More after the jump. Images: David Stankov
First offering of The Mello Residence. A Buff, Straub & Hensman home built in 1956. A virtually unaltered single level mid-century post and beam residence set upon the plateau of Pasadena’s central arroyo with spectacular views and private access into Brookside Park. National Register home with Mills Act tax status. Original owners. 7 bedrooms and 3 baths containing 2,981 interior square feet (taped) on a 41,600 square foot lot (assessor). Incredibly private setting. Walls of glass, outdoor living spaces and no interior stairs. Built on a raised foundation on a portion of the formal gardens from the neighboring Knudsen (dairy) Estate (1886) with meandering brick pathways leading to an oak grove into the arroyo with direct gated access to Brookside Park adjacent to Kidspace Museum. This home is unlike any other.
