The modern “simplified” fired ceramic, bronze and silver sculptures by Robert Aberdein are beautiful shapes. I say simplified because they are distilled representations of specific species of birds. They have such a great solid presence yet communicates motion.
Robert Aberdein was born in 1963 and studied at Norwich School of Art. A passionate birdwatcher, Aberdein has always sculpted the avian form.
His sculptures have evolved from realistic depictions of individual species to the distilled forms of his more recent work, simplified and tactile shapes which capture the essence of his subject.
