The last few times I have featured a sofa or sectional, I had mentioned that we were on a hunt for a new sectional. We finally pulled the trigger, I waited a few months before I posted about it so that I could give a honest assessment. Some months ago I gave away a chair from Thrive Home Furnishings, they sell affordable mid century modern inspired furniture. As I got looking through some of their pieces I honestly didn’t give them a second thought for a sectional. I think in my mind “affordable” equals lower quality and think it is, in many cases. Our budget was fairly tight and our current sofa was a mess and had to go. We decided to go ahead and try a sectional from Thrive, it was a choice between the Taylor Sectional and the Sullivan Sectional. Click “read more” to see which one we chose.

Taylor Sectional

Sullivan Sectional
We decided to go with the Florance Knoll inspired Sullivan Sectional but we decided to maximize our seating and our dollar and got the “L” shaped.

For fabric choice we decided to go with Omega Pewter, a gray heavier weave. We have 3 kids and wanted something that could hide minor staining.

As you can see the Sectional and the Flor carpet tiles are sort of the same color so we will have to remedy that, which I will post on shortly.

Over all I am pretty impressed with the quality of the Sullivan Sectional, we sit on it every day and it has held up pretty well in the last 5 months or so. We like the more tailored look and feel of this design. The corner where the “L” meets is the coveted spot to sit, very comfortable. For the price I think it was a great value and would do it again.

PLASTOLUX “keep it modern” » Flor carpet tile remix : Feb 04 13 at 3:00 pmMelina: Dec 20 12 at 10:05 amhello. i saw your post about this beautiful sofa. this is just what we (my husband and i) are looking for. not as a sectional, but as a normal 3-seater. it looks like the florence knoll sofa, we would love to buy, but 10000 euro is much more than a sofa should cost! but: we live in germany and all the shops i found, that sell similar sofas are all in the usa. do you have an idea where we could look in europe for such mid century modern furniture?
thank you very much, melina.
Dan: Dec 20 12 at 2:25 pmI would love hear periodic updates on how the sectional holds up. There are a smattering of negative reviews about Thrive. (see Yelp.) But in fairness, most have to do with the delays in delivery rather than quality of the item.
