Do you know Brown-Saltman?
I didn’t until last week. I was on my usual Friday thrifting rounds and spied this amazing smaller square coffee table with an incredible walnut grain. I won’t say how much I paid but it was a goooood deal. While I was there I saw another longer coffee table but really did not pay it much attention due to the fact it had a smoked glass top which hid it’s beauty. When I got the smaller table home and cleaned up I noticed the logo and did a little research on Brown-Saltman. While thumbing through google images I came across an image of the table I passed up, yes it too was a Brown-Saltman. I worried all weekend if this other table was still there, Monday they were closed. On Tuesday I sped over and sure enough it was still there and the same price as the other one. Make the jump to read a little more about Brown-Saltman and see the two tables I scored.
Graphic Patterns - Jonathan Calugi
With my recent visit to Columbus Indiana which included a private tour of the Miller home I have gained a new appreciation for Alexander Girard. When I stumbled across the work of Jonathan Calugi I felt a strong connection between the two. Jonathan Calugi’s work is original and well done but I can see the simplicity of shape along with repetition of pattern in both these artists work. See more of Jonathan Calugi’s work after the jump.
Jonathan Calugi is an illustrator based in Italy and it is from his self-proclaimed chaotic workspace, that he creates his clean illustration and pattern works. Each piece is a take on his quirky child-like doodles with clean minimal lines and simple, uncomplicated colours.
And it is through these simple visual works, that Jonathan draws in viewers to a basic stand and cultivates appreciation the very epitome of the common phrase of “Less is more”. A very good nudge away from what can be a messy and rather perplexing world at times.
Modern Spaces by PAUL KALOUSTIAN
Paul Kaloustian recently contacted me about sharing some of his work, and we are glad he did. Based out of Beirut Lebanon, this graduate from The Harvard Graduate School of Design has a grate portfolio. I really like the clean lines and minimal flavor he incorporates into his interiors. Not only does he have great interiors, take a look at his architecture and furniture as well. More pics after the jump.
Modern Church Interiors - by Christoph Morlinghaus
Christoph Morlinghaus has done an amazing job of capturing these modern interiors. Maybe we would all go to church more if we could meditate in one of these structures. Let’s play identify that church, I knew two of the fourteen due to my recent trip to Columbus Indiana but who can name the others. Click “Read More” to see all the interiors.
Mod on eBay
My eBay post did not come together as well as I would have liked, but there are some goodies I could find a place for. I really like the strong clean lines of these two sofas and you can’t go wrong with the color. By now you have seen my want for the rosewood, this bad boy is 79″ long! For a little pop art I have always liked Takashi Murakami. As you can see there isn’t a coffee table, I couldn’t find one with the right angle/picture, so if you find one that you think will fit make a comment with a link and I will put it in.
